Everything started, as Ayra says, "on Wallys's land" (Wally is our daughter Ayra's dear doll). Close to Cusco, in the small town of Andahuaylillas we meet with Nahual/Gogi Abroad students to work in a special project that elaborates Waldorf inspired dolls. After visiting the majestic Sacred Valley with its impressive ruins and history we went on a three week bikepacking and packrafting adventure from Cusco to Lake Titicaca.

-- The ancient town of Ollantaytambo...
-- ...and the Inca capital of Cusco
In between farewells and hugs our group of students left and Ayra, Nicole and Mathias stayed back to start pedalling their dreams.
En Bici ... / By bikes...

In eight days we bikepacked the full lenght of "The Four Lakes Route" from Cusco to Lake Titicaca. This Andean traverse stays high in the mountains most of it well above 3800m with high passes of 4500m. It goes through one of Peru's agricultural meccas. Here you will not find big pre-colonial temples or buses packed with tourists in search of "selfies" with well known backgrounds. On this mountains, peasants have worked on the land since ancient times, mastering sustainable agriculture practices, they have only left behind hundreds of square kilometers of fertile soils and nice people among a beautiful landscape.

A Remo / Packrafting ...

Several --islands-- later and after 5 days of beautiful, secluded campsites and long paddling days we came back to Puno amongst totoras (and towns made out of totoras!) to wrap up our family adventure. Our last day goes by as we take a stroll on the busy streets, drink chicha and emolientes, chew coca leaves and enjoy a few piscos.
