Ruta: De Latacunga por el camino viejo a Pujili. Uniendo caminos y senderitos a Yanahurco y desde ahi por "chaquiñanes" parameros hasta Angamarca. De Angamarca travesiamos a Pimbalo y nos salimos a Rio Colorado. Entre el Chimborazo y el Carihuairazo hasta San Juan y desde ahi por caminos secundarios a Guamote.

THIRD SECTION

General Directions:  From Latacunga via the old road to Pujili. Up an up on dirt and singletrack to Yanahurco and then a mixed section of intense hike a bike and singletrack bonanza to Angamarca. From Angamarca a beautiful "ecuadorian" traverse to Pimbalo and then out to Rio Colorado. In between Chimborazo and Carihuairazo to San Juan and from there on dirt roads to Guamote.

Zumbahua - Angamarca

Este último año hemos estado tratando de tejer una ruta que recorra en bici todos los andes ecuatorianos. De Norte a Sur, por las montañas, y evitando empedrados y pavimento ha sido la consigna. Chaquiñanes y caminos vecinales se siguen abriendo al rodar de nuestras llantas y esta ruta de los "bici-chasquis" va tomando forma. De los sectores mas difíciles por lo quebradizo de las cordilleras es la zona de Zumbahua al Chimborazo, la cual me he decidido hacerla por partes. La primera de Zumbahua a Angamarca (y regreso a Zumbahua via caminos lastrados). Me arranco solo ha completar el circuito en dos dias. Hasta ahora no acabo de digerir todo el potencial ciclistico de la zona y la belleza de los paisajes de un pequeño sector del Ecuador que todavia se escapa de que le "revolucionen".

Inspired by the Tour Divide and other epic mountain rides, we've been working for almost a year to weave a route that will traverse the whole length of the ecuadorian andes. From north to south, up high on the mountains and using as much as possible forgotten, ancient single track or "no track". As we explore the mountains all sorts of little dirt roads and trails open like a new book to our rolling wheels and this "biking-chasqui" route starts taking shape. One of the hardest sections to link due to the rugged terrain is from Zumbahua to Chimborazo. After looking at many maps I decide to scout it in two sections. The first one from Zumbahua to Angamarca (and back to Angamarca via gravel roads). I leave alone to complete the two days circuit. I'am still astonished by the beauty of the landscape and the quality of the riding I discovered behind this high rocky peaks that are still hiding from an ever-growing civilized world.
